Our new group photo!

A Little Update

Everyone is very excited for the trip! This morning will be our cultural day, where we will share and learn about everything India! Each student will be presenting on a certain location in India. There is also supposed to be some great food, which Tal is very excited to eat. After our cultural day today, we only have a few more meetings before the trip. Everything is coming together into what will be a fantastic adventure.

Busy, Busy, and Back to School

Oh how quickly the summer flew by!

The Bridges to India team spent the last few weeks of summer preparing even more for the adventure coming through group meetings, book discussions and more fundraising. As we dive even deeper into the culture and differences, we have more questions and grow more excited for what is to come. Last meeting, we started the process of applying for our visa. Though the work is rather long and tedious, everything is coming together, and our recently purchased plane tickets make the trip oficial: November 23 - December 15.

We have made excellent progress funding projects for the Hope Clinic, however we are still working to reach our goal.

Today was the first day of the school year, and in a rush of schedule changes and getting back into the swing of the year, we are preparing for the next meeting with research questions and a film project that is currently in motion.

T-minus 80 days until India!

First Meeting in 7 Weeks!

As students returned from their summer travels, we held a planning meeting to discuss travel logistics, the success of fundraising attempts, and things to get done by our next meeting. We're continuing to learn about the culture of India, and are taking a look at the way that government regulates the treatment of elephants.

We've additionally started to discuss how the culture in southern India is different from ours, with a focus on how they value traditional dances and music. As we finish up our reading, we prepare for our second book club meeting and our cultural meeting in September.

Car Wash & Bake Sale Success

On August 14th we hosted a bake sale and car wash at Riverdale High School, which was a huge success.  We raised over $750 for Hope Charities.  We would like to thank everyone who came, brought supplies, and helped out. A special thanks to Mrs. Schulz and all the parents who helped wash cars and manage the money all evening.

Thanks for all the support,
The 2013 Team
