Today we headed down to Kerala for our service learning
experience. The day started off at 5am to catch a plane out of Jaipur that made
its way through Delhi, Cochin, and finally landed in Kerala. Stepping out of the plane we overwhelmed by
extreme humidity and the tropical setting. Hunter Alldredge, a previous Bridges to India
member for the 2009 group picked us up in a large bus. While on our way to the
clinic we stopped at a local store for some delicious ice cream in a colorful
plastic ball. The roads became increasingly windy and narrow making the bus
ride feel like a rollercoaster. We arrived safely to the clinic and were
greeted with a Hindu blessing, where Laly the caretaker for the house, put a
red dot on our foreheads. We have already been greeted by many local students
and are really excited to start our service learning projects.

Glad to hear you have arrived safely in Kerala. The Hindu blessing must have been a wonderful welcome. Keep the photos coming…it all looks so amazing.

Thanks so much everyone for this great blog. It is great seeing the pictures and hearing all of the stories. It is wonderful seeing all the kids (and parents too) so happy and interested in everything.
